If you have been impacted by the SoCal fires and need the help of relatives or friends to take care of your children, you should know your options.
As a parent, you have the right to ask anyone you choose to provide care for your children. If you think they may need to make medical decisions or enroll your child in school, you may want to think about using a Caregiver Affidavit.
If the plans you are making for the care of your child are temporary, we do not recommend you consent to a guardianship. These can be difficult and sometimes complicated decisions.
