Issues of proper care and the legal rights of dementia patients have been increasingly in the news. Having had significant success in other parts of California with similar educational presentations, Wise & Healthy Aging and Bet Tzedek, along with several other sponsoring organizations, will hold a symposium entitled, “Dementia Care Without Drugs.” This full-day training session will take place in Los Angeles on June 5, 2012 at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Boulevard. The symposium will address the increasing misuse of psychotropic drugs as treatment for dementia and focus on non-pharmacological alternatives. Suggested attendees include nursing home and community care facility staff, pharmacists, ombudsmen, healthcare advocates, conservators, caregivers, and many others.
