2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count – Homelessness Down First Time in Years

Key results from the 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, from Mayor Karen Bass’ Office:

  • Promises made, promises delivered
  • For YEARS the count has gone up. We’ve changed the status quo and the count is going down for the first time in years
  • People are moving off the streets. Street  homelessness in Los Angeles has decreased by 10%  – an unprecedented amount
  • The amount of people in shelters has increased by 17%. That means that more people are moving indoors.  
  • The amount of makeshift shelters, cars, vans and tents have decreased overall.
  • More Angelenos are moving into PERMANENT housing than ever before.

L.A. Times: For the first time since 2018, homeless count finds fewer people living on L.A. streets
